Heron’s Head
In the last 50 years and old Navy pier has been converted into a wetlands area park. It’s a unique land spit extending into the bay that also serves as a haven for migratory and estuary birds. Due to the fragile bird habitat it’s important to keep all dogs on leash that have any interest in rummaging through undergrowth and chasing wildlife. But it’s a great place. At the end the spit it’s completely fine for dogs to be off leash. There’s a also a calm bay for the swimmers.
